Mother’s Day

With Mother’s Day only a few days away, I thought I would share my favourite French toast recipe that has become a tradition in my home for Mother’s Day. Being a mother has many challenges, but the rewards definitely outweigh all the hardships. What better way to celebrate that special day than with a wonderful homemade French toast breakfast (with lots of coffee of course!) and being surrounded by the ones we love!

This recipe is super easy and really doesn’t need a special occasion to be enjoyed. I like to add cinnamon to the batter, which pairs beautifully with the orange zest. I serve the French toast with a sprinkle of powdered sugar, topped with freshly whipped whipping cream and strawberries. I’ve never actually tried the recipe with challah bread; instead I’ve opted for a thick cut toast, which works perfectly.

The best part is that spending Mother’s Day breakfast at home means going out for dinner!

Cut up the strawberries in advance and sprinkle with sugar to allow the juices to be released.
