Ever wanted to create the perfect dessert table? Creating a stunning Pinterest worthy dessert table is not as hard as it may seem. (Follow along on my Pinterest page for a ton of inspiring images).
For my son’s recent communion, which I talked about in this previous post, we created this wonderful dessert table for guests to enjoy after dinner. It was also the perfect backdrop to take photos with guests.
Our son’s communion was celebrated at a wonderful Italian restaurant where good friends of ours also hosted their son’s communion. It couldn’t have worked out better! It was so nice to be able to collaborate with someone else. We shared ideas and worked together and we couldn’t have been happier with the final outcome.
Here are some steps to ensure a stunning dessert table
- Choose a colour scheme – We chose gold and white as the main colour scheme for the table. Our colour choice was inspired by the gowns that are worn during first communion.
- Select your items – select a variety of items that you would want to serve, always keeping in mind your colour scheme. The cohesiveness of the table is extremely important.
- Plan your layout – Prior to the event we set up a mock table at my house and placed the items so that on the day of the event we would know exactly where everything went. This also gives you a chance to make sure you have all the right platers. Practicing before is important to see if the table may need more dessert or perhaps you have too many. Be sure to take a picture because on event day you’ll probably forget where everything goes.
- Consider the backdrop – After all the hard work of creating a stunning table, it is so important the backdrop be appropriate. We decided to rent the backdrop as the table was being placed in front of windows.
The dessert table was a hit, not only for the kids but for the adults too.
I hope I’ve encouraged you to create a wonderful dessert table of your own at your next event!
